FAQ

Is laser hair removal treatment safe ?

Hair removal is one of the most popular, well-known and researched uses of laser in the aesthetic medical field. Our Soprano ICE laser has provided permanent hair reduction for thousands of patients worldwide.

How many laser treatments I need ?

There are a number of factors that can affect the success of a course of hair removal treatment, but typically, after each session, you’ll see a permanent and noticeable reduction in the number of hairs that re-grow in the treated area. Typically, it will usually take 6 sessions to permanently reduce the number of re-growing hairs by up to 85%, six months after the last treatment. Some people require as few as 4 or up to 8 sessions to get the full effect.

Will my hair ever grow back again ?

The simple answer is no, the hair will not grow back. Once the hair root is damaged, it is not able to grow new hair. However, there are always a few follicles that partially evade the laser during each treatment session. Some of these follicles may be weak and will need to be treated again.

Do I need time off for the treatments ?

Not at all. Our Soprano ICE laser hair removal requires no recovery or downtime. You can have a laser hair treatment and return to your normal daily routine straight away.

How do I know it won't hurt ?

Treatment with our unique Soprano ICE is very comfortable. Although pain tolerance varies between people, patients often describe the feeling as quite soothing. If you find your are experiencing any discomfort, please talk with your therapist.

Which skin types are suitable ?

We use Soprano ICE system, which works on all skin types, and most hair colours. The low power IN-motion technology with gradual heating of the hair follicle pigment means all colours can be suitable, from fair to black skin.

How much does laser hair removal cost ?

Laser hair removal costs vary according to which area of your body is being treated. Compared with a lifetime of shaving, waxing or plucking, our laser hair removal is worthwhile and will save you time and money.

Do you provide laser hair removal treatment for men ?

Yes. Laser hair removal treatment for men is very popular. Common laser treatment areas are face, chest, back, neck, ears and much more.

How does it work ?

The laser beam is made up of controlled pulses of energy; it’s absorbed by the melanin or pigment in the hair and reaches into the hair follicles that lie beneath the skin. The energy heats the hair, right down to the bottom of the root, safely destroying it without damaging surrounding tissue or skin.

What does the consultation and test patch involve ?

A laser practitioner will explain to you the treatment procedure and examine your skin and hair type for suitability. A test patch is carried out to determine the best treatment settings and to avoid over-dosing the skin.

Are there any side effects ?

Redness or some swellings to the skin are short term side effects following each treatment and this usually settles within a few hours. If the skin is a more sensitive type, it may take a couple of days for the redness to disappear altogether.

What should I avoid and during my treatment course ?

Try to keep the skin as natural as possible, avoiding sun exposure, sun beds or self-tanning products, skin peeling products like glycolic acid (AHA creams) and Retin-cream. Also be sure to tell us if you have been taking any tablets for acne such as Roaccutane, which must be discontinued prior to treatment. During your consultation, we will review any medications or supplements that you are currently taking to help determine the appropriate fluency for your treatment.

What do treatments involve ?

We ask that all patients shave the area of treatment prior to their appointment as this saves us time. Our therapist will then apply a cooling gel. The laser will then be position gently against the skin and subsequently pulses of intense light are delivered into the hairs, which destroy the follicles. During the time of treatment some of the hair within the treatment area may fall out however the true extent of this may not become noticeable until some 14 days post treatment.

Laser hair removal after care

Avoid heat simulations such as hot baths or showers, saunas, and steam. Avoid cardiovascular exercise and swimming as the chemicals in the water may cause irritation. Also, perfume, body lotions, after-shave, make-up and deodorant should not be used as they may sting the skin. You may apply an aftercare product such as Aloe Vera to help the skin recover. If you have any reaction or you are concerned, please contact us so we can advise you..
